Motion Graphics

For this project we first visited the the national maritime museum. We were given the tour around the history about the nelson navy history. It was was quite dull and boring but the aim was to get something boring and create something that is interesting.

For this I chose a cannon ball because I feel like I could do something special and interesting about it. For me cannon kind of reminds of ever going ball until it hits its target. I was thinking of utilising it in the motion graphics.

It was first developed in china then later into islamic world and Europe. It was a descendant of a fire lance which was a something a spear shaped with gunpowder attached to it. Basically worked like a flamethrower.

The first illustration of a cannon is dated to 1326.

History of cannon

It was first invented in china. It was one of the earliest forms of the gunpowder artillery. In the middle east, it is said that the first use of the hand cannon was during 1260 between Mamluks and Mogols. In Europe, Iberia used the cannons first during 11th and 12th centuries. It was around this period that the cannon became more standardised and more used/effective.

The word cannon is derived from the Italian word cannone, meaning large tube.

For the video I was going to include all the country the cannon were used on. I will be including the landscapes of each country. It will be an illustrated version of the landscape. First country I did according to my research was china so I wanted a landscape that gave away Chinese feel. Second Landscape is of Mongolia and next one is mamluks.

I chose this two because they were the first ones to use the hand cannon. For the Mongolia I couldn't find a better looking landscape which I had visioned in my mind but I had to stick with the ones I found. I was happy with the Mamluks representation landscape because it was lovely to look at it and had that Egypt vibe to it straight away. For the Mongol landscape I looked for an open space with just beautiful plain green grass filled hills. Nothing else. I couldn't find it.

This is a first landscape I drew on illustrator. I will be including the cannonball which is not going be an illustrated. This is because I want the cannonball to be real and have that real feel to it as it flies along these beautiful landscapes.

Iberians

France
They also used cannon during medieval times.
The siege of orleans in 1429.

These are all the landscapes that I chose which relates to the history of the cannonball. I really wanted the video to be simple and interesting to look at. That is why I thought of this concept of including the countries and making the cannonball fly across it. The cannon ball is flying throughout the video and it doesn't stop. The reason it doesn't stop is that cannon is still being used and will continue to pass out.
